This convertible is a solid driver as it already stands and, in the hands of a skilled restorer, it can be taken to a whole new level.

In addition to its unique engine technology, the RX-7 can boast of being the result of a somewhat unusual development process - especially as far as second-generation representatives of the model, like this one, are concerned. Realizing that the earlier RX-7s saw most of their sales success right here in the U.S., Mazda's development team thoroughly researched the sports car styling cues that most appealed to American car buyers when it came time to give the model a thorough restyling, in particular drawing inspiration from Porsche's 944. Sporting a black exterior that still holds a glossy shine, this particular specimen represents the model nicely. Description

1.3L ROTARY, 76,093 ACTUAL MILES, 5 SPEED MANUAL, POWER TOP, TRIPLE BLACK, RWD, TOP DOWN FUN!

If you're a sports car enthusiast and you're looking for a unique ride, this 1991 Mazda RX-7 convertible is definitely worth checking out. It offers a great blend of revolutionary technology and attractive styling and would be a definite conversation starter in any automotive crowd.

Even after three decades of service, its body panels remain well aligned, you'll find clear glass on its windshield and windows, and its distinctive pop-up headlights rise on cue and sit nice and flush in their lowered position. There's a matching power black convertible top standing ready to raise into position to protect you from the elements when necessary.

Inside, the black leather interior is still in good overall shape. You may find some expected wear on the surface of the front bucket seats, but they retain plenty of padding and there are no cracks on the dash cap or center console. With a little bit of attention, this will be a very comfortable driving environment. All the air conditioning components are intact - the system likely just needs a freon recharge to return to action - and the featured headrest speakers will be a welcome addition once they're brought back up to speed. Considering this car debuted more than 30 years ago, this cockpit has an impressively modern design, with clear, easy to ready gauges in the instrument cluster and ergonomic controls within easy reach.

The main benefit of Mazda's rotary engine technology has always been its ability to extract substantially more power from modest displacement than would usually be possible in traditional engines. As a result, this RX-7's fuel injected 1.3-liter rotary engine has roughly the same displacement as a VW Beetle from the 1970's but generates an impressive 160 horsepower. Because that rotary engine is set so far back in the engine bay, the RX-7 benefits from an ideal 50/50 weight distribution which, paired with its low to the ground stance and strut suspension at both ends, makes this car a lot of fun to put through hairpin turns. You'll also find power disc brakes at all four corners to provide fast, fade resistant stops. This very distinctive ride cruises on a set of sharp 15" factory BBS basketweave wheels.

If you're searching for a convertible sports car that will stand out in a crowd while offering an exciting driving experience, this 1991 Mazda RX-7 convertible is definitely worth taking a closer look at. Call today!
