This long, low, and wide 1992 Jaguar XJS proves that a great design is timeless. And for some of us, we knew that this sleek cat was capable of being a wild animal. So this coupe now has a 400+ hp stroker V8 under the hood. But the big power doesn't erase the quality of a luxurious A/C interior or confident handling that made this a great European.

The mode year makes this quite fun. 1992 is when Ford's takeover of Jaguar was really noticed with a styling update. So you have even sleeker lines and a cool story about how your Ford-based Jag is now powered by a Chevy. The black paint is believed to be the original application, and while the mileage is low, it is showing signs of age. You can always use part of the value price to budget for a respray, but we like what this one already represents. The level of fade in the paint gives the feeling of that old money person who doesn't care about the outside world as much as he/she properly maintains the luxury within. Also, you could even accelerate the aging process to create one of the most interesting patina rat rod style exteriors you've ever seen! The reason why you can take this Jag in basically any style direction you want is because you have very good fundamentals already in place. The panels align nicely, the doors close with confidence, the chrome trim is bright, and the lattice wheels are elegant. And of course, the flying buttress look on the rear is pure sophistication.

There are some nice updates inside for 1992, including restyled gauges, better dash controls, and a driver's airbag. But you never lost that old-world luxury feel of plenty of wood and leather. Plus, the seats were reupholstered in 2005. So even with some maturity, the impression you get is a proper car made for driving. Jaguars have always been quite good at accepting Chevy power, and this was done using components and instructions from John's Cars (when you know Jag conversions, you absolutely know this company.) You're looking at a 383 cubic-inch Stroker V8 from the masters at BluePrint engines. It has a Proform four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake, and headers feeding the Flowmaster mufflers before exiting those large side pipes. It was a professional upgrade done about 10 years ago, and they even made sure to add the right supporting components, like an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. And BluePrint gives a dyno sheet showing 430 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque at the crank. It's a strong runner that's built to be an all-around solid driver. So you get stout Chevy components like the TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. But you also retain the surefooted Jag pieces like the fully independent suspension and four-wheel power disc brakes.
