It's hard not to get excited about a 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible. After all, with less than 15,600 of these built during the first production year, this is the car that launched a legend. So to find one presented so correctly – right down to rare paint – makes for something quite special.
Sure, we love '60s Firebirds in red and black, but here's a more sophisticated way to standout. This is a nice re-spray of the factory Coronado Gold. Those who know their Pontiacs also know this was only available for a limited time on the Firebird and was a special order. So that gives this first-year Firebird even more distinction. But more than just a great color, these were an instant classic thanks to the bold styling. It starts up front with the unique chrome bumper that gives the whole front end Pontiac's wide track look. Good bodywork helps make sure items like the crease that runs from nose to tail is crisply defined, and you recognize the faux vents in the quarter panels are a cool contrast that helps break up the otherwise smooth body. This one really is great, right down to the details like the Rally II wheels with PMD center caps.

While the black roof looks nice against the gold, it looks even better when you take it down to reveal the factory-correct parchment interior. You paid a bit more for a Pontiac back in the day, so it's nice to see it now with welcomed extras like the wood appearance on the dash and the desirable center console with floor shift. There's even an upgrade to a more modern AM/FM radio with digital tuner and aux input. You have complete control from the driver's seat as you grab the factory three-spoke wheel that gives a clear view of the dual pod gauge layout. And because this retains its provisions for factory air conditioning, you have the potential to enjoy top-down motoring long into the summer.
Under the hood is a highly authentic presentation. This was born a V8 car, and so it's nice to see a 326 cubic-inch motor under the hood. It retains its factory honest appearance that you see in details like the correct air cleaner as well as the correct Pontiac blue on the block and valve covers. The V8 fires up nicely, which makes for a great cruising convertible. This is furthered by nice driving features like the three-speed automatic transmission and power steering.
Complete with owner's manual, this is a highly authentic example of a first-year Firebird that has true rarity and distinction. So if you're looking to stand out in your classic droptop, don't miss this deal. Call now!
