Butternut Yellow is a great factory color on a Chevelle like this. It seems to represent its era correctly in a bright and distinct way. Plus, it makes for a nice contrasting backdrop to the premium dark elements like the well-fitting black vinyl roof, and the full-length pinstripe that highlights how well the door fit. The Super Sport badging, hood vent trim, and pillar-less hardtop profile are all part of that ideal muscle car look. Fresh chrome bumpers and upgraded polished Coys wheels add plenty of shining charm, but there's nothing too overdone so that you're afraid to be the first to break in fresh asphalt with this big block cruiser.

In fact, the callouts are doing a bit of fibbing, because you actually have a LARGER 454 cubic-inch V8. It inhales deeply with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with power and authority with long tube headers. It's even supported by the right pieces, like a serpentine belt kit, an electric fan, and a newer aluminum radiator. The big block fires up eagerly, and its rumble of the dual exhaust makes this sound like a mild cam motor. This is a solid driver that you get to experience better thanks to the upgrade to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive.
