With the Chevelle, Chevrolet created that rare car that could be all things to all people. And it wasn't by accident that they designed it to handle the biggest of big blocks, up to and including the 555 cubic inch monster under the hood of this dazzling black hardtop. With a quick shifting Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox and elegant leather interior, this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 555 Restomod is an absolute stunner that's a joy to drive. Take a closer look, they don't get much better than this.
Originally Granada Gold, this Chevelle has no need to keep a low profile anymore, and thanks to the sinister black paint, it cuts through parking lots with a swagger that would make Clint Eastwood proud. And it's more than just serious blasting powder under the hood that makes this one so special, it's the incredible build quality that shows in every little bit of the car. The photos aren't doctored, this car really is that straight and shiny, obviously the work of a lot of hours and a substantial pile of cash.
But it was worth it, because the gaps are great, the sheetmetal aligns just right, and those 555 fender emblems are obviously not original, but located where they're supposed to be according to factory spec. She's not a perfect trailer queen, you don't pack that much horsepower under the hood and mate it to a 5-speed if you never plan on driving it, but the imperfections are fairly minimal and with a half-step away from the car are hardly noticeable. There's an SS-style hood for a little extra flashiness, a laser straight chrome grille up front, and the car has been stanced with a wickedly aggressive rake atop those oversized Budniks. Nothing goes better with black than shiny chrome, and the bumpers and bright work are sparkly and clean, offering the kind of contrast that makes this Chevelle glisten as it's going down the road. What a beauty!
Sculpted and high-end TMI black leather-and-suede seats work perfectly with the black exterior, and it's a nice way to keep this car feeling like a proper Chevelle with a whole new lease on life. Plush black carpets line the floors and insulate the cabin from the outside world, while those awesome custom door panels mimic the suede-and-leather look of the seating front and back, and a taut headliner above shows that nothing was overlooked in this full-blown restoration. The dash is blacked-out and protected with a thick black pad up top, but it's not without bling either, with crisp detailing and chrome accents running from end-to-end and highlighting the controls, a killer color combination that is continued on leather-wrapped, chromed Bowtie steering wheel at the helm. Just beyond it is a full spec of Dakota Digital gauges that keep a close eye on the monster living under the hood, and they're backlit with blue lights just like the Sony AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit that in the center stack that provides all the tunes. Other options include cold A/C with controls installed in the factory location, sporty pedals in the floors, and an SS-spec factory console that houses a custom industrial-style shifter topped with an 8-ball knob that controls the Tremec 5-speed manual below. And yes, that's an SS-style console clock ahead of the shifter, further cementing this slick Chevelle's performance credentials. The back seat was trimmed out to match the buckets and looks to have never been used, while out back the trunk was conservatively finished with primer paint that shows off this A-Body's super-solid pans.
The monster 502 big block V8 under the hood was reportedly stroked to 555 cubes, and it drops right into the Chevelle's engine bay, but before that happened, everything was painted, polished, and prepped for show. Check out the super-clean black inner fenders and firewall, and the careful way all the lines and plumbing have been routed. Turning back to the monster that lies within: A noticeable cam provides a lope in the motor that can shake up the pavement, and as if it needed any more oomph, aluminum heads, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and heavy-duty, dual-line Holley 4-barrel carburetor all work in unison to provide huge horsepower and heavy torque for this sick Chevelle. A thick aluminum radiator keeps everything cool, while ceramic-coated, long-tube headers are linked to a stainless-steel dual exhaust system with Magnaflows flanking a custom drive shaft. A quick-shifting Tremec 5-speed manual transmission takes full advantage of this magnificent brute with the help of a hot-rodder clutch, and it spins a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end out back. Huge horsepower wasn't the only consideration in this professional build, as power steering, a custom front clip with QA1 control arms, a thick Hotchkis front sway bar, rear trailing arms, and rear coilovers all make the driving experience much more enjoyable and Wilwood power 4-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors are a welcome upgrade that help stop the whole show on command. Flashy Budnik rims go perfectly with the stance of the Chevelle and are wrapped in 245/35/19 (front) and 275/35/20 (rear) performance radials with plenty of grip.
You couldn't possibly duplicate this fantastic build for the asking price, even if the car was given to you for free. If you appreciate quality, you'll love this car. A black restomod '67 Chevelle with huge horsepower and handsome looks means this one won't last long. Call today!
