This 1966 Pontiac GTO has a big 455 V8 and four-on-the-floor. Oh yeah, you know you're already going to love it even before you check out the extra-sleek style and all the extra features that come with this enhanced muscle car hardtop.
The bold red paint is an upgrade that knows how to grab attention. The color was done with care to have the kind of gloss that pops in the sunshine. The overall finish also likes to look impressive while still being more of a driver than a museum piece. And it has a great canvas thanks to straight sheet metal and tight body lines. Chrome also looks nice on all places, including the body-hugging bumpers, trim surrounding windows, and smooth-looking rockers. But this car is not just about style. As a real-deal GTO, it has all the right high-performance details like the hood scoop, fog lights, badging, large dual exhaust tips, and the correct intricate tail panel exclusive to the GTO. And a nice set of polished American Racing Torq Thrust wheels adds to both the performance feeling and the shining style.
The interior has a clean and comfortable style. The exterior red returns as an accent but now white is the main color. The seats, door panels, and other fundamentals. It shows pretty well, but you'll be even happier to know there is a new interior that also comes with the sale. We also like how this granddaddy of muscle cars has plenty of vintage style everywhere you look, right down to AM radio on display. Plus, you'll appreciate the driver-oriented package. You have front bucket seats, a center console in-between, a classic woodgrain steering wheel, clear gauge cluster with speedo and tach. And that Hurst shifter is exactly where you want to rest your right hand.
The engine bay is built for power. It has an impressive look with the smooth black inner walls, K&N Air Filter, and plenty of bright components - including the Pontiac etched aluminum valve covers. And as you keep digging, you'll discover even more powerful details. This is a 455 cubic-inch V8, which is larger than stock for the 1966 GTO. It's also further enhanced with the right performance upgrades like Kaufman aluminum heads, an Edelbrock intake, and topped with a Quick fuel four-barrel carburetor. This also has the right supporting components, like an MSD ignition, an Optima red top battery, and an aluminum radiator. The headers add power and rumble to the dual exhaust, and any time you really want this big V8 machine to bring the thunder, there are electric cutouts. The four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over the motor's power and awesome soundtrack. As you look underneath, you'll spot stout components like a 12-bolt rear end, boxed rear trailing arms, and thick sway bars. Plus, you have power steering, power brakes, front discs, and wide BF Goodrich T/As s for all-around driving appeal.
The sale comes complete with a ton of extra components (including for the interior) and PHS documentation. This is the true GTO that has added power and poise. It's time to drive a legend, call today!
