Z-CODE 390 V8 W/ 4 SPD MANUAL IN FACTORY COLORS, FRESH PAINT, RUNS/DRIVES GREAT!

Mercury was the kind of brand that offered premium distinction, and this 1963 Mercury Monterey convertible is the exact kind of car that proves it. With big V8 power, a cool all-blue color theme, and fun features (like the rarely seen four-speed), this is a nice classic offered for a value price.

There was a lot of Lincoln-level style in the '63 Monterey. It could have been a cousin to the Continental with its quad headlight design, wraparound front bumper, and full-length trim that crisply defined the main crease in the profile. Plus, the rear with the hint of tailfin and artfully done triple tail light design wouldn't have looked out of place as the rival Cadillac! And the details are great everywhere you look - from the correct badging to the distinct blue convertible top. It's quite an attractive exterior that even includes a more recent respray of the factory-correct Cascade Blue. However, we also like how this one has a bit more of a driver-ready impression at heart. That's why you have the salt flat-style Billet Specialties wheels. The 18/20-inch front/rear setup allows you to fit better modern tires and gives this a sporty stance.

The roof powers down to reveal a full blue ... Please ask for the full description.

The roof powers down to reveal a full blue interior. We'd call this a unique triple-blue car (because of the paint, roof, and interior color,) except there are so many shades of blue inside that it practically earns a triple-blue designation on its own. We're told this car recently came from an estate sale where it had been with its original family for decades. This highly original interior and good paperwork back up this feel of long-term respected care. And it's this history that really makes us love the vintage details, like the FM transmission below the AM radio, courtesy lights that greet you when the door opens, and a color-matched convertible boot. You may choose to update some of the fundamentals if you're looking for perfection, but we really like how this matured style helps tell the car's story. Plus, the clean gauges, power steering, and floor shifter remind you that this Mercury's appeal lies in its driver fun.

Under the hood is the correct-style Z-code 390 cubic-inch V8 motor. The engine bay presents exceptionally well with the golden Mercury valve covers and air cleaner looking so distinct against the tidy black setup. It's the same V8 big block that would make a few legendary Mustangs, and this one is topped with a four-barrel carburetor, so it can still move this luxury convertible around with authority. A nicely cared for car like this is more about being a cruiser than a blacktop burner, but we like the idea that it's nice to occasionally take extra control with the four-speed and let the dual exhaust really sing the V8's tune.

The paperwork file is impressive with the original window sticker, the owner's manual, and a nice stack of maintenance records. This may be an all-blue drop-top Mercury, but the only way it will make you feel blue is if you miss this deal. Call today!!!
