With a mean-looking upgraded style, strong V8 power, and the right added details, this 1988 GMC 1500 is a custom pickup that understands how to deliver distinction for a value price.
This truck is a mean machine. The upgraded black paint strikes the right balance where it retains a good gloss in the sunshine, but it also looks like it won its share of blacktop battles. Yes, you can use the value price as a base for upgrading some areas, but really take a look at the full package. The imposing billet grille surrounded by the blackout treatment, a tall cowl hood, smooth rear pan, custom taillights, and sleek stepside bed really make this an intimidating pickup. It even has bright Rally wheels to look like a muscle car. And the way those painted metallic gray racing stripes look so good on top of the battle-tested black, it gives this that same kind of attitude that other people look for on pre-war hot rods. So yes, this one really has personality.

So yes, this one really has personality.
The tasteful gray interior is a nice choice against the black exterior. The contoured cloth bench, good headliner, and plush carpeting make it a good package. There are fun driver-ready upgrades like the Grant sports steering wheel on the tilt column and added gauges pod mounted on the A-pillar. Plus, the radio has been upgraded to AM/FM/CD stereo with modern Bluetooth. The air conditioning is running on modern R134a refrigerant (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) But we bet your favorite breezes will really come from the sliding rear window.
Under the hood is a 5.7-liter V8. This is a younger Jasper crate motor installed around 2010. It has the right components you want, like throttle body injection and a large aluminum radiator. This is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission w overdrive that was rebuilt in 2018. It makes for a full package that fires up eagerly, runs well, and shifts smoothly. Power steering, power brakes, front discs, and those wide Cooper Cobra tires make for an easy everyday driving pickup.
