Description

NUMBER'S MATCHING 440 CUBIC INCH BLOCK BLOCK, 3-SPEED AUTO, POWER STEER/FRONT DISC, CONVERTIBLE!!!

When thinking about true muscle cars, we all tend to begin with the same list. Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, Firebird, Barracuda, GTO, Road Runner and Javelin/AMX. But beyond that point, a bit of a debate can begin to arise. While the idea of a "soft muscle car" may seem a bit paradoxical at first, but, after experiencing a car like this 1970 Chrysler 300 convertible, you might start to think otherwise.

Not only is the 1970 version of the 300 the last convertible the model line would ever see, but it also happens to be one of the rarest. Just 1,077 of these eye-catching powerhouses were ever built. This Crimson Red exterior, which was repainted around 2013, is complemented by a white vinyl convertible top. The ample body rides proudly on an a-arm front- and leaf spring/air shock rear suspension with a set of 15-inch rims shod in 235/75R-15 tires at all four corners. Behind those classic wheels sit a set of power disc brakes up front and power drums at the rear to keep things civil whenever necessary.

Pop the hood and behold the muscle of this car as a seemingly stock 440 cubic inch V-8 sits poised and ready to move as fast as you're prepared to go. A stock 440 is potent enough, but hidden inside this built gem are forged pistons, rod bearings, and an upgraded cam. Those internal goodies play nice with an Edelbrock intake and four-barrel carb to bring peak horsepower up to around 375, according to the owner. That power is then sent through a column-shifted heavy-duty A727 Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt with a modern shift kit in 2013.

Having been used primarily to participate in the Hot Rod Power Tour, this Chrysler 300 was born to cruise. Top up or top down, nestle into these plush Spinnaker White bucket seats, put down the power windows, click on the air conditioning, and enjoy the sun in your hair. This 1970 Chrysler 300 convertible is, for all intents and purposes, a boulevard cruiser. But, thanks to a bit more muscle added to an already stout 440, this car can also become a boulevard bruiser. Come see for yourself!
