This 1978 Pontiac Firebird has not only been upgraded to a Trans Am tribute, but it also has an enhanced V8 and performance suspension upgrades to make sure this cool-looking coupe is all-around fun.

The upgraded Trans Am packaging on this example looks particularly striking as they used a tasteful combination of light blues for the logo package on the fenders, b-pillars, and across the rear. And, of course, that iconic hood bird leads the way in the distinctive multi-tone blue. Even the iconic snowflake wheels have been done to coordinate. So it's attractive even before you see how aggressive it is. It has all the best T/A pieces, like the fender flares, fender vents, full-width spoiler, and the bold shaker hood. Possibly the most significant difference between this and a factory stock Trans Am is that this is missing the quad exhaust tips, but then again, that's also why this has a more excellent growl.

The interior is an attractive mix of blue and gray, and the velour upholstery is inviting. And a good look at the carpeting, dash, and headliner gives you excellent fundamentals. There are also good factory features like the power windows, a retro-cool AM/FM/cassette stereo, and provisions for air conditioning (it's a factory A/C car, but it will likely need components and servicing to return the function.) And what you'll particularly like is the driver-friendly feeling. This includes the high-back front bucket seats, an armrest center console in-between, the Trans Am sports steering wheel, and a tilt column.

The shaker hood is a Trans Am icon, and this tribute opens it up for fresh air (something you didn't find in every 2nd-gen factory T/A.) This whole powerhouse is distinct. It's a Chevy 350 cubic-inch V8 upgraded with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and headers feeding a shortened dual exhaust. Power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission make for a good driver. And upgrades like the subframe connectors and thick sway bars front & rear makes for a fun classic sports car.
