Description
The 1969 Ford Mustang R-Code 428 Cobra Jet, was Ford's introduction of the Cobra Jet engine, a powerhouse that redefined performance in the Mustang lineup. The R-Code designation indicated the presence of this formidable 428 cubic inch V8 engine, making it a coveted model among Mustang owners.
This particular 1969 Ford Mustang, in its striking Acapulco Blue, is powered by a date-correct 428 Cobra Jet V8 engine, paired with a close-ratio four-speed manual Toploader transmission. The engine block carries a date code of 8J25 (November 25th, 1968), adding to its authenticity. The car was produced Dec. 18th, 1968. The car's restoration, completed in March 2023, has been a labor of love, mainly undertaken by the consignor. It features aftermarket date-coded glass and seat belts, and a Holley carburetor that's a period-correct reproduction from Holley.
Inside, the original blue vinyl bucket seats and floor shifter create an authentic and immersive driving environment. Externally, the Mustang's fastback body style is as eye-catching as it was in 1969. The full repaint in its original Acapulco Blue, combined with the absence of stripes, gives the car a sleek, uninterrupted look. The suspension setup, featuring MacPherson struts at the front and leaf springs with shocks at the rear.
