MODIFIED 427 LS7 V8, APPROXIMATELY 500RWHP, RUNS STRONG, 6SPD TRANS, CUSTOM FORD 9" REAR, VERY SERIOUS MACHINE

It's pretty hard to call a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a sleek black style and Ram Air front end a “sleeper,” but this one is hiding an amazing 427 LS7 motor that delivers 580 horsepower to the rear wheels! And it's not just the engine that is race-ready. The transmission, suspension, interior, and all other fundamentals have been touched to create a wicked coupe that sounds evil and will haunt everyone else at the speedway.

The 1998 car was the right one for an aggressive build like this. It was the first year for the restyled 4th generation cars. The design allowed the Trans Am to grow into its angular body much better. So it's a more intimidating car that also seems to fully utilize the aggressiveness of the hidden headlights, wraparound rear spoiler, and big Ram Air hood scoops. And, of course, the black paint makes this an intimidator. But this dark finish also looks like a quality factory application that has been treated with plenty of respect. So the luster loves to showcase the well-fitting body panels. So your first impression might just be that this is a well-kept classic. And while the wheels look good in black, the Z06-inspired style hints at something more ... Please ask for the full description.

MODIFIED 427 LS7 V8, APPROXIMATELY 500RWHP, RUNS STRONG, 6SPD TRANS, CUSTOM FORD 9" REAR, VERY SERIOUS MACHINE

It's pretty hard to call a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a sleek black style and Ram Air front end a "sleeper," but this one is hiding an amazing 427 LS7 motor that delivers 580 horsepower to the rear wheels!

And while the wheels look good in black, the Z06-inspired style hints at something more going on with this car.

The interior has a clean look of a well-kept car. But what you'll notice first are the race-ready components like the six-point race cage, big tach on the A-pillar, and well-integrated auxiliary readouts in the dash. What we like about this is that there's still a touch of unassuming nature here. After all, the interior isn't gutted like a race car. You still get comfortable leather seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat. And it's loaded with the best features like T-tops, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and a premium Monsoon AM/FM/CD stereo. The A/C controls are still in place, but of course, the pieces were deleted to make way for more power under the hood.

The engine bay continues the car's unassuming nature. It is upgraded, but the extent of its big power isn't being boastful. After all, this car was born with LS power, and that's what the block resembles, and there's nothing to advertise that it is the almighty LS7 that has a 427 cubic-inch displacement to rival the old-school big blocks. And this motor is a fully built package that includes a stroker crank, Scat connecting rods, Diamond Racing forged pistons, Trick Flow cylinder heads, ARP bolts, Cam Motion roller camshaft, Isky Racing solid roller valve springs, Crower rockers, Cometic head gaskets, Lingenfelter mass airflow sensor, and a FAST fuel injection intake ported to 92mm by Vengeance Racing. The Kooks headers feed into a very straight set of dual exhaust pipes, and the mufflers are quickly removable for racing. This is a seriously powerful package, so the six-speed manual transmission is a T56 six-speed specifically built by Tick Racing. It has Liberty gear for first through fourth because those non-synchros are ideal for the track. This feeds into a Midwest Chassis Rear 9-inch rear with Moser 35 spline and Chip Ganassi-built 4.11 Yukon gear. So you have a motor dyno rated at 581 rear wheel horsepower and the beefy components that can get that power to the ground. The suspension is now a full chromoly setup from Midwest Chassis, including a front end with a fully tubular steel setup and adjustable arms. Subframe connectors, Strange Engineering double-adjustable shocks, and four-wheel power disc brakes exist.

We have barely scratched the surface of the full effort that has gone into this amazing machine. So call us to review the consignor's full spec sheet and build receipts. But if you're looking for the kind of competition-ready build where using the best components were put ahead of price, you already know you found it here. Call now!
