Description
Such a great combination of originality and flat-out visual impact! This 1966 Chevrolet Caprice 396 rolled out just as Chevy made the decision to take the Caprice from an option on the ever-popular Impala to full-fledged model status, and you'd have a hard time finding a more fitting representative for that pivotal, inaugural year. It's dressed in a striking shade of red that has a nice, even finish - a session at the hands of a skilled detailer will bring it to top form - and its exterior alignment is on point, with consistently even gaps between body panels and doors, hood, and trunk that shut with a reassuring "thud". The original 396 cubic inch V8 is standing by in the engine bay, equipped with a 4-barrel carb and Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and is very much ready for action. Hedman long tube headers that lead to a pair of FlowMaster mufflers not only allow the engine to exhale with ease but also add a deep, rumbling exhaust note. When it comes time to hit the asphalt, the factory 4-speed manual transmission - a pretty rare feature for this model - will give you a "hands-on" driving experience that's sure to bring a smile to your face. As you climb inside, you'll be lowering yourself onto the original bucket seating - still plenty presentable. And, when you glance to your right, you'll see another rare but welcome factory option on board: a center console that with a fully functional gauge stack. How often do you find that?
