This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Tribute has the quality look of a nut-and-bolt restoration. But more than just rebuilding this legend, they added some seriously desirable features, like a stunning custom color combo, houndstooth interior, air conditioning, four-wheel disc brakes, four-on-the-floor, and a new 427 crate V8. It makes for the kind of all-around build that delivers far more than you dreamed a first-gen Camaro could be.
The Pewter Metallic paint is a great color to have where it doesn't look out of place on a '68 coupe, and at the same time, it's a custom color of distinction. And the full restoration means a professional application that invites others to see this car project an image of upscale sophistication. The shine helps to highlight the good panel fit and super-straight sheet metal throughout. This one has all the best classic pieces you want, like bright chrome bumpers. And there are plenty of the right first-gen SS upgrades, like the cowl hood, full badging (including the gas cap,) and D80 rear spoiler. But this one also blazes its own distinct path in subtle ways. Description
That's why the hidden headlight RS front end has a bolder billet style look and newer electric doors. And the D91 sports stripe is done in a custom darker pewter for a delicate tone. Plus, those upgraded five-spoke alloys go with the overall shining theme of the car while also giving it a sportier stance.
The interior Continues to offer the best of the first-gen cars in a well-restored package. This starts with the upgraded to houndstooth cloth inserts, which are practically a classic Camaro icon all on their own. The headliner, doors, dash, and carpeting all have a vintage look and a fresh feel. You can impress classic car fans with details like the deluxe door panel, smooth wood-like inserts on the center console, and exterior pewter that returns on the dash. But what really makes this terrific is how it's got the best pieces for a driver's classic. You have a wood-rimmed Chevy sports steering wheel w/power steering, and beyond that is a large speedo and desirable tic-toc-tach. The center console has the vintage quad auxiliary gauge pack as well as an upgrade to a Hurst short-throw shifter.
The fender callouts weren't lying, and so under the hood you have the same awesome 427 cubic-inch displacement as cars like the Yenko COPO Camaros. But the display here is all about freshness. This is a crate motor that was installed within the last few years, and it is showcased in an engine bay done with smooth color-matched inner walls, a ton of polished components, and an overall tidy setup. The mighty V8 inhales deeply with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a high-octane soundtrack thanks to headers feeding the dual exhaust. It's also supported by the right pieces, like a March bracket kit, serpentine belts, an Optima red top battery, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fans. The undercarriage photos show a clean build with fresher components, right down to the bushings. So it's the kind of car you drive with confidence. And there's firm control out on the road with the four-speed manual transmission, modern ZR-rated tires, and SSBC four-wheel power disc brakes w/drilled & slotted rotors.
Complete with plenty of build receipts, this restored coupe delivers serious power, serious upgrades, and seriously sweet paint. So you better get serious and call today!
